Where to sleep in Siena
Siena is a walled Tuscan city where the last uphill approach can matter more than a room category. A centre lodging lets you return to the medieval streets; a campsite outside that core needs a deliberate transfer rather than an assumed easy walk.
Source-adapted starter guide, not independently verified hotel listings. The properties below were named in dated Wikivoyage revisions. We have not checked whether they still operate, their current prices, guest scores or accessibility. Confirm identity, room type, final total and terms directly before paying.
Which part of Siena fits your trip?
For a short sightseeing stay, compare the San Domenico side of the centre with Viale Vittorio Veneto. Choose Scacciapensieri only if camping or a cabin is part of the trip. We omit the farther Sovicille campsite from this town comparison rather than disguising it as central Siena.
San Domenico and centre edge
The Via Camporegio and Viale Vittorio Veneto listings offer room-based alternatives to camping.
Before choosing: Check curfew and access through the walls before a late arrival.

Colleverde is outside the centre and above the station, suited to a campsite-led stay.
Before choosing: Verify the bus stop and uphill return rather than carrying luggage on an assumed level walk.
District source and revisionThree named places to investigate
These are source-listed leads, not hotels we have contacted, paid placements, current room offers or a score-based ranking. No price, guest rating or availability is asserted. Compare the different areas and ask the property about the exact room and date you need.
Santuario S. Caterina
The source also calls this Alma Domus and places it near the Basilica di S. Domenico.
Verify before booking: Confirm its current name and curfew; the source records a late-evening entry limit.

Listed on Viale Vittorio Veneto, a separate room-based lead from the nunnery lodging.
Verify before booking: Check room access and cancellation; the old spa shuttle is not an included service here.

The campsite listing distinguishes pitches from cabins on Strada di Scacciapensieri.
Verify before booking: Confirm season, pitch or cabin basis and current bus access; cabin bathroom details are historical.
Read the source listing and revisionArrival and getting around
The railway station lies below the historic centre in the source account, which describes buses and an escalator approach. Check opening hours for that approach and your luggage route; central vehicle access requires arrangements with the lodging.
Routes and hours may change. Check your actual stop, final walk and service with the operator; a source revision date does not verify a present timetable.
